San Carlos gets ‘Pagdayaw 2009’ awards

San Carlos City in Negros Occidental won again as Best Performing City in Region VI at the Pagdayaw 2009-Excellence in Local Governance Awards of the Department of Interior and Local Government at Iloilo Grand Hotel, Iloilo City, Tuesday, a press release from San Carlos City said.

Aside from Best Performing City, San Carlos was also awarded Excellence in Administrative Governance, Excellence in Social Services and Excellence in Environmental Management. It also garnered first runner-up in Economic Development and first runner-up in Local Legislation.

Last year, San Carlos won the Best Performing City award and the awards Excellence in Administrative Governance and Excellence in Social Services, the press release said.

Present at the awarding were DILG Undersecretary for Local Government Austere Panadero, DILG-6 regional director Evelyn Trompeta, GTZ-AHT Dr. Johannes Paul, Presidential Assistant for Western Visayas Dr. Raul Banias, and DILG-6 assistant regional director Anthony Nuyda.

City Mayor Eugenio Jose Lacson received the awards with Cty Engineer John Marlon Traspadillo, City Assessor Aida Alforte, Social Welfare and Development officer Cynthia Mirande and Fatima Daiz, the press release also said.

The guest speaker in the award rites was DILG Secretary Ronaldo Puno who was introduced by Evelyn Trompeta, regional director of DILG.
