Eighteen local government units will compete in this year’s Panaad Festival Dance Competition to be held on the first day of the weeklong Panaad sa Negros Festival which kicks off March 20, a Capitol press release said.
The competition is open to the towns and cities of Negros Occidental, but only one entry per local government unit is allowed, as stated in the guidelines.
The competing groups for this year are Babaylan Festival of Bago City, Dinagsa Festival – Cadiz City, Sinulog – Kabankalan City, Pasalamat – La Carlota City, Pintaflores – San Carlos City, Minulu-an – Talisay City, Pasaway sa Sipalay – Sipalay City, Manlambus – Escalante City, Hudyaw Festival – Calatava, Lubay-lubay Festival – Cauayan, Ugyonan Festival – E.B. Magalona, Pagbanaag Festival – Hinoba-an, Tigkalalag Festival – Isabela, Bailes de Luces – La Castellana, Tinabu-ay Festival – Murcia, Salapan Festival – Pulupandan, Bulang-bulang Festival – San Enrique, and Pasundayag Festival of Valladolid.
The performance of each group is limited to a maximum of seven minutes, will be at the Panaad stage and each must have a minimum of 20 members and a maximum of 50 members including props men on stage.
First place will receive P70,000 cash, second place – P50,000 and third place – P30,000, the press release added.*
